Where the couple belongs to the community of Hindu, Buddhist, Jain or Sikh the Marriage Registration is governed by Hindu Marriage Act, whereas for couple belonging to any other community Special Marriage Act will be applied for the purpose of registration. The bride and the groom must attain 18 years and 21 years old respectively during the time of registration.
